If you have decided to own a Chihuahua, you need to consider their needs as these dogs are very people oriented and they require you to be around them as much as possible. When buying a puppy, mind you, do not be impulsive!
First, you need to choose a responsible Chihuahua breeder who can give you much information about the breed and about its usage. It is important that you educate yourself and become familiar with the breed. The idea of taking any dog should not be spontaneous. You should think the idea over very carefully. Not all living situations are best suited for the dog or for your lifestyle.
Chihuahuas Puppy - Clubs
There are many clubs dedicated to Chihuahuas where you can choose the breeder and find the pertinent ownership information. There are many lovers of the breed all around the world. The popularity of the breed grew greatly at the turn of the 20th century. The clubs appeared in the USA. In 1904, the AKC standard for Chihuahuas was laid down, and in 1923, the Chihuahua Club of America was established.
The main desire of the clubs is to maintain the purity of the breed. That is why only the best representatives of the breed are breeders. Rescues do not allow adopted rescue dogs to breed and they spay or neuter them before releasing them to new homes.

Chihuahua show dogs may have the following faults in appearance that will result in disqualification during the show. Cropped ears or some other deviations from standard such as too large or too erect ears, large fluorescent eyes, or eyes set a little bit apart are grounds for disqualification of Chihuahuas during showing.
