Dog Breeders
Most dog breeders will recommend another breeder if they don't currently have puppies themselves in the kennel.
The breed originated in the Chihuahua state of Mexico. In all likelihood, it descended from the ancient Techichi dog that was popular among Aztecs and Toltecs and was regarded as a sacred animal. Ancient people used to bury them together with their dead owners, because those dogs were believed to be able to steer human souls through the afterlife. Archeologists have discovered numerous ancient graves with skeletons of those dogs in them. Modern Chihuahuas were produced by crossing the Techichi dog with some small breed that arrived with European or Asian immigrants.

Dog Breeders -
breeder, kennel
Chihuahuas tend to make good family companions and very loving and loyal pets. They usually become so attached to their owners that they may turn jealous at times. Lively, courageous, and swift moving dogs, they are also naturally protective and suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas should be trained with patience and consistence. They are responsive to positive reinforcement. Early socialization is very important in the breed. General care and grooming do not present a problem, as both longhaired and smooth haired Chihuahuas are relatively easy to keep in a top condition. Most dog breeders will recommend another breeder if they don't currently have puppies themselves in the kennel.
